Discord displays avatars in circles across chat, member lists, and mobile feeds. Keep faces, logos, and signatures within the inner 78% diameter to avoid cutoffs.
The online, idle, and DND status indicators cut a notch into the bottom-right corner in profile popouts. Avoid placing tiny text or key artwork in that corner.

When you upload a standard square image to Discord, the application applies an inscribed circle mask. Geometrically, the area of a circle with diameter d is π/4 × d² ≈ 0.7854 d², meaning approximately 21.5% of the square's outer corner space is hidden.

Discord displays avatars at 40×40 pixels in standard chat streams, 80×80 in mobile profiles, and 128×128 in user profile popouts. A 512×512 PNG provides ample pixel density for retina displays without excessive file size.
